Baitul Mukarram Mosque (BIC) is committed to improving human welfare through a variety of social and community services.  BIC was established in 2002 in response to a growing demand for programs and services that address the needs and welfare of low-income individuals and families striving to improve their condition.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS:

Emergency Financial Assistance Program (Zakat)

The Zakat Assistance Program provides one-time or short-term assistance for needy persons and families. Assistance is typically used to cover basic needs such as shelter and payment of rent or utilities. Other assistance needs are considered on a case-by-case basis. Assistance is contingent upon the applicant meeting the eligibility requirements of the program and the availability of Zakat funds.

Muslim Healing Clinic

The Baitul Mukarram Mosque, operates a free health clinic in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health.  The free health clinic serves low-income uninsured individuals and families, allowing them to receive quality healthcare.

Community Referrals

BIC offers referrals to other community agencies that may be of assistance to our community members. Referrals are routinely made for health care, legal services, employment, housing, and childcare.  Every effort is made to assist each client with available resources.

Adult and Family Literacy Program

The Adult and Family Literacy Program provides English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults whose native language is other than English . Participants must register for the program in advance as space and classes are limited.

Counseling Referrals

Counseling services are provided by one of the Imams of Baitul Mukarram Mosque or a certified Muslim counselor, depending on an assessment of the situation. These services will be available for individuals and couples who are experiencing difficulties in coping with certain situations, are experiencing marital difficulties or are in abusive situations. Counseling services under this category include individual, family, youth, marriage, separation and divorce resolution, and abuse crisis intervention.

Donations

Muslim Social Services gladly accepts your donation of new or gently used clothing and household items. Donations are accepted at the Muslim Social Services Center the 1st Wednesday of every month. Financial donations may be made at any time online, by mail or in person at the BIC Center.
